Apache Beat are a band that will intrigue, entice and finally let you enter their world taking a step further inside with each listen. Already a hot topic across the waters in the US, the New York five-piece have been working tirelessly for the past 2 years but finally us Brits can now join the Apache Beat groupie gang with the release of debut album Last Chants.

Before even hitting play the long-awaited album is full of promise, mixed by Martin Bsi (Sonic Youth) and additionally mixed by John Agnello (The Kills, Dinosaur Jr) and with contributions from members of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Lightspeed Champion it demands respect. Yet putting this to one side and hearing opening track ‘Knives’ you realise that the Brooklyn band would even have been enough on their own. Drawing you in with the synth line and vocals, the pace and beat of this track instantly gets your attention.
Throughout the album singer Ilirjana Alushaj leads the music but is never alone in her quest, always accompanied by layers upon layers of sounds. Together the texture is rich and unquestionably impressive. In fact the music has such a luxurious feel that you almost feel yourself slipping into a dream, a dream of thick instrumentation, synths and soothing vocals.
The album entitled track ‘Last Chants’ is with a doubt the biggest on the album. Get ready to be hooked into the Apache Beat world, one full of romantic tales, drama, melodies and one you’re sure to want to be part of.
