Wine of the Week: Grenache Cuvée Trace-Negre

With bitter winter nights setting in many will find their drinking habits altering, favouring hearty reds over delicate summer white wines.  There could be no better bottle of wine to indulge in on a cold winter’s day than Grenache Cuvée Trace-Negre 2007 Vin de Pays des Coteaux de l’Ardèche.  This bottle of wine is comparable to your favourite chunky knit sweater, wrapping you up in a rich warmth, not unlike that enjoyed during a loving embrace.  This winter there could be no better companion to a roaring fire than this fabulous red wine.

This bottle of red, with its delightful hand-designed label, boasts a vigorous liquorice flavour with fruity undertones of redcurrants and strawberries.  The aroma certainly packs a punch, it is peppery and intense, contrasting to its smooth and velvety texture.  The flavour lingers on the tongue and is a wonderful accompaniment to a spicy Thai duck salad.  Dark in colour, intense in flavour, this wine is the liquid equivalent of the man you simply cannot live without.
